I've just completed an AMX project in Madrid, Spain. It was a nice enough job: the usual stress, pressure, deadlines, etc, nothing new there. But I did get to work with a group of excellent guys on the job, and we did have the bonus of being taken out on a corporate hospitality event...
Bernabeu Stadium
Dar at Bernabeu ...we were taken out to the "Estadio Santiago Bernabeu" in uptown Madrid to watch a Real Madrid game, courtesy of the excellent client we were out there working for. This is me at the Bernabeu Stadium. The game was Real Madrid against an American Major League Soccer Select XI. Click on picture to enlarge.
And this is the team I was working out there with. This is Marco, the Project Manager for the job, for Bosch. Click on picture to enlarge. Marco at Bernabeu
Rob at Bernabeu This is Rob, also from Bosch. We were in a hospitality box, by the way, with our own lady host, who kept bringing us free tapas and beer every three minutes or so. Keep it coming. Click on picture to enlarge.
And this is Wieger, who was working with us from Hewlett Packard on the thin client system out there. Click on picture to enlarge. Wieger at Bernabeu
Bernabeu Stadium Its a serious stadium, and Real Madrid is a serious subject for the people of the city. They don't mess around out there when it comes to soccer. Also, its worth mentioning that the food out there is fantastic, absolutely fantastic, I could live out there just for that. And the sangria? It was sweet, hombre. Click on picture to enlarge.
Oh by the way, Real won the game 5-0, with goals scored by Beckham, 2 by Ronaldo, Raul and Guti. Best player on the pitch, and my man of the match? Thomas Gravesen. MLB Soccer XI? Were they actually on the pitch? It was a different world apart. Click on picture to enlarge. Bernabeu Stadium
Humber Bridge Also, back in Britain this weekend, Looby did her sponsored abseil in aid of the Royal National Institute for the Blind. This abseil was from the side of the Humber Bridge. The Humber Bridge was opened on 24th June 1981 and at that time, was the longest single-span suspension bridge in the world. Since then, it has been overtaken twice and is now the third longest in the world.
Here's Looby dangling from the bridge, preparing to take the plunge. Click on picture to enlarge. Looby on the Humber Bridge
Looby on the Humber Bridge And here she is in mid-descent. The small speck between bridge and ground is Looby. Click on picture to enlarge.
Here's Loob still in helmet and harness, just after touching down. Click on picture to enlarge. Looby in Helmet
I was up there "I was up there!!" Click on picture to enlarge.
